France is synonymous with the word wine. Yes, France is a wine hot spot. This is great since many of us dream about relaxing on the French coast with a delicious glass of red or white wine as we watch the sun slowly disappear into the distance.
There is much more to do in France than just all the unusual things to do in Paris.
For this post I want to dive into where to head during your holiday vacation to get some of the best wine in France. Each of these spots also lets you experience some incredible views and historic cities.
Lille
Lille is a stunning old city located in the North of France. And a one of the best winter city breaks in Europe. There are many things to do here and places to stay. However, it is also an excellent place to walk around and explore the history of the city. I recommended sitting outside a cafe and sipping wine while enjoying the famous French architecture. Lille could even be an awesome day trip from Paris.
Chamonix Mont Blanc
One of the best spots to enjoy wine in France is the Chamonix Mont Blanc. This city, located in the French Alps, combines tasty wine with serene mountains and a vast landscape. It is also a great spot for adventure junkies. You can spend your mornings hitting the ski slopes and your evenings talking to fellow travelers while taking in the breathtaking view of the Alps.
Chamonix Mont Blanc is a resort area, and while it has many cheap hotels, it is not exactly budget-friendly for backpackers.
Strasbourg
Ah, is there any place in France quite as picturesque as Strasbourg?
This city, which is the capital of the Alsace region of France, has a charming waterfront and quaint city squares to sit and enjoy your glass of wine. It is a great place for travelers of all ages to visit, and the city offers some awe-inspiring views from your hotel.
Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence is an awesome spot for budget travelers. It is a university town, so the city has an energetic atmosphere, and hotels here are pretty reasonable. If you want to get a tasty bottle of French wine for cheap, check out this area.
The city is also stylish, and there is a beautiful mountain overlooking it. It’s a great place to hold up and relax for a few days while tasting as many different wines as possible. After you are rested, head back out on the road, armed with the check out the best quotes about the road.. After all, we still have lots of views to see and French wine to taste.
Biarritz
For our last place to enjoy French wine in while taking in a fantastic view, let’s head to the coast. Biarritz is a wonderful town right on the sea. It is an excellent stopover on a trip to France, and you can enjoy your days in the sun breathing in the fresh air.
France has some of the best places to visit in Europe. And there are many tours around that let you enjoy the immense beauty of the country while experiencing some of the best wine it has to offer. Here are just a few highlights that I would recommend to anyone traveling through France and a perfect way to enjoy a nice European getaway (Make sure to check out the best travel quotes about France).
