10 of the Top Travel Blogs You Shouldn’t Take Your Eyes Off in 2014!

As 2013 is drawing to a close, I am eagerly awaiting 2014 and in anticipation I thought I would provide a list of some great travel blogs to follow this coming year. They have inspired and entertained me throughout this past year, and their authors share the same passion as I do for travel and living life to the fullest. I can’t wait to see where their adventures will take them in the future.

This list is just a few of best travel blogs having adventures around the world.

1- Land Lopers

Matt is not a backpacker, but he makes the most of his travels. I love how his articles show me a different perspective of travel. There is always new content being published on Land Lopers, and it is always entertaining to read. Matt is a passionate adventurer and wanderer, and it shows in his writing style and the care he puts into his website.

2- Fleeting Life.

Fleeting Life is run by Christina, who has traveled throughout Central America, as well as some of South America. She is a goofball to the max and has a great sense of humor that comes across in her writings. She’s currently living as a student in Spain, and I can’t wait to read about her adventures throughout Europe.

3- Backpacker Banter

Chris’s is always by a beach. He is a kick ass surfer who has been on the road for over two years. When he is not busy making me face my fears of deep water, you will find him globetrotting from sea to sea as he dives and surfs his way around the world. Backpacker Banter hosts epic travel tales wherever water is to be found. He is talks about budget travel with monthly summaries of his expenses.

4- Canvas of Light

Daniel’s life was changed when he took part in the Camino de Santiago in 2009. Now he runs one of my favorite photo blogs. His passion is to pass on knowledge that he has learned while traveling. He has a great eye for clarity, color and creativity that brings his images to life. His photos on Canvas of Light always inspire me to work more on my photography, and I am looking forward to more of the same in the coming year.

5-Dangerous Business

A fellow Ohioan like myself, Amanda has a true passion for travel. In 2005, she went on a two week trip to New Zealand and has been obsessed with seeing the world ever since. Her writing is smart, and her blog, A Dangerous Business, is informative. This is one website I make sure to check out every week.

6- Y Travel Blog

The Y Travel Blog is a great family blog. They have been traveling the world since 1997. Their site is all about informing and inspiring others to start their own adventures. Right now they are on a year long road trip around Australia (My current home).

7- Pause the Moment

Pause the Moment  follows Ryan and Liz, who live for the moment. Their post are informative, and their videos are well done. They are one of my favorite blogging couples, and I’m looking forward to reading more of their posts this year.

 8- Yomadic

Nate is a long-term travel photojournalist that has taken photos of over 52 countries. His site hosts unique travel advice and photos. What I most like about Yomadic is that he travels off the beaten track and finds unusual locations.

9- Hole in the Donut

Quitting her much hated corporate job over six years ago, Barbara now travels the world photographing and experiencing the culture around her. Her writing on Hole in a Donut is unique and well done. She is a lovely person with a big heart. I want to be like her when I grow up.

10- Planet D

The Planet D is an adventure travel blog operated by Dave and Deb, a Canadian couple. They have participated in some great adventures like going to the Galapagos. Which is one of the top tours like we talk about in G Adventure Review. and the Mongol Rally, which they did a couple years before me. Valuable advice given to Norbert, from GloboTreks, helped us get through the rally in one piece.
All these blogs hold something special, and I always love their content and perspective on the world. If you are looking for some new, exciting, and informative reads, I would start with this list.
What about you? What are some blogs that I should check out in 2014? Also if you run a blog, feel free to post a link to it in the comments below.

  1. Thanks for posting your favorite travel blogs; they all look great and I look forward to checking them out. I am brand new to the travel blogging world, only starting my own blog a few weeks ago. It’s so interesting to see so many passionate travelers finding their own special niche and sharing what they know and love with others. Speaking to your niche, I missed out on backpacking the world when I was young, because I had a very sick father to care for; but fortunately, I found a way to see the world as an adult, with my husband and our children. International Home Exchange has afforded us the ability to live live locals for a total of almost four months, in four countries over the last five years. Our experiences have been so amazing, I want to share everything I know about international home exchange with other families, so they too can experience the wonders of cultural travel. Foreign travel, for most families, is economically impossible; but with international home exchange it becomes quite possible.
