 Mount Rushmore National Memorial, South Dakota

The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota, United States. We dedicate it to the memory of four American presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. 

The idea for the memorial was first proposed in 1923 by Doane Robinson, a South Dakota historian and geologist.
