Backpacking is a great way to explore the world without spending a lot of money. 

Spend some time researching before you start your journey so that you know what to carry with you and what to leave behind.

China

Great Wall of China

China is a large country to explore and a backpacking trip in China is a way to explore traditional Chinese culture.  

If you are daunted by the thought of going alone, you could always join a guided group tour, this way you will be able to see the sights whilst also staying safe and making some like-minded new friends.  You should also brush up on your travel packing tips, as it’s one of the largest and hardest country’s to travel.

There are many attractions to visit like the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City and Terracotta Warriors.

You can also easily dine on inexpensive food and beer in China. Be sure to visit Yangshuo, an area that is known for its picturesque rivers, rice fields and farmlands. 

You should also visit West Lake where you will find numerous pagodas, temples and gardens. 

Spend a few days trekking in Jiuzhaigou National Park that has stunning mountains, lakes and waterfalls. You can also climb Mount Hua and walk through the glass way on the Tianmen Mountain.

India

India is a large country that offers a diverse range of locations to travel as a backpacker.

India has varied lifestyle from ultra-modern to simple lifestyle and if you wish to travel on a budget there are several places you can explore. Explore Delhi where you can visit the Red Fort and Lotus Temple. There’s a lot to see in India.

You should also visit the Ajanta and Ellora caves in the state of Maharastra to see the beautiful rock paintings and carvings. Rent a motorcycle and cruise on one of the world’s highest roads, the Rohtang Pass that goes through the Himalayan range.

Spend a night or two at Bandipur National Park in Karnataka which has modest accommodations to live amongst wildlife such as elephants, deer, and tigers. India can be overwhelming. However, memorize some adventure quotes and you’ll talk yourself through it. 

Nepal

Nepal lies in the valleys of the Himalayan mountain ranges and is a great place for a backpacking trip. You should visit Swayambhunath also known as “the monkey temple” due to the sheer amount of monkeys that live around this temple. The Chitwan National Park is a great place to see one-horned rhinos and Bengal tigers as well as numerous bird species including the giant Hornbill. Thamel is a popular neighbourhood popular with backpackers that offers shopping and a great nightlife. Australia

Australia is great for backpackers and should begin your trip in Sydney.

There are plenty of great attractions like golden beaches, the stunning Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Then take a trip to Melbourne where you can experience a fabulous nightlife and dining. Rent a car and drive along the Great Ocean Road, a 244km stretch of lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, and fabulous areas like the 12 Apostles Rock formations that pillar above the ocean.

You should visit Cairns to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef and also visit Byron for its popularity amongst surfers and artists.

Ireland

Ireland is a great country to travel as a backpacker and the capital Dublin is a good place to start. You can stay in a hostel or choose to live amongst strangers by searching for accommodations on the internet through certain websites that offer these options. 

Be sure to visit the Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse and Book of Kells in Dublin. 

Go on a road trip from Dublin to Cook where you will enjoy a route filled with stunning scenery, lively pubs and fabulous cafes. 

If you have strict dietary requirements, then backpacking throughout the UK is a great option, as there are lots of vegan and vegetarian options, and many restaurants offer gluten free dishes etc. 

Canada

Canada is a large country and it is better to be sure to choose the right itinerary for your travel. 

The west coast is great for backpacking and you can find bus service, ferry service, and different modes of transportation that will fit any budget. 

Travel to the Vancouver Island on a ferry and explore the mountains and woods in this region. 

Pick up a bus ticket and sit back and ride along the Sea To Sky Highway to Whistler that is world famous for its snow-capped mountain views and stunning scenery along the route. 

You should also visit Banff to see the stunning Lake O’Hara and Mount Assiniboine.
