Europe has some of the most beautiful places in the world. There is so much culture and delicious food, as well as a wealth of different landscapes, that I never get tired of traveling through this stunning part of the world.
Right now, because of the favorable exchange rate between the USD and Euro, traveling in Europe is affordable. Now is the time to experience all the wonders of Europe for a fraction of the price you would have paid just a few years ago.
So, in this post we are going to discover awesome budget hacks that you can use to help save money while traveling Europe.
Not Everywhere in Europe has the Same Price Tag
And while there are so many great places to visit in Europe not all of them cost the same. One of the best ways to save money when traveling Europe is to head to cities and countries that are less expensive.
A perfect example of this is Budapest. This town is beautiful and budget friendly, and the locals are welcoming. It is one of my favorite cities in Europe and is extremely cheap compared to places like Rome and Paris. When visiting this city, you are able to splurge a little and treat yourself to beautiful hotel rooms and fancy meals and still stay under budget.
Another great example of this is St. Petersburg. There’s a lot to see and do in St. Petersburg, and for a capital city it’s prices are fairly reasonable, which lets you do more with your money.
Get Cheap Hotel Rooms
You can find hotels all over Europe through a quick web search. Whether you are looking for a room in Helsingborg, Innsbruck, or Reykjavik, fantastic deals are waiting out there for travelers. Finding the best hotel room at the right price can make your vacation even better and leave you with more room in your budget for activities. And anyone who has read 101 fun facts about me knows that I love getting cheap hotel rooms.
Don’t Eat Out Every Night
Eating out every night is easy to do when traveling but it is a terrible idea. Eating out frequently racks up your travel cost surprisingly fast. One budget travel hack is to stay in a place that has a kitchen so you can cook your own food, or head to a bakery and get everything you need to have a cold meal. Eating cheap meals and cooking your own food will help keep your budget on track.
However, it is important to taste the local food so make sure you eat out once every couple of days to experience the local culture and delicacies.
Getting Around for Cheap
Our most important budget travel hack for Europe is how to travel around cheap. There are many ways to travel Europe without breaking your bank. A few options are budget airlines, train passes, and overnight buses.
The cheapest way to travel Europe is Megabus. This awesome bus company runs routes all over many parts of Western Europe and the UK for an extremely low-cost. For example, a regular bus or train from Venice to Florence can cost as much as 15-20 Euros. On Megabus, the route averages around 3 Euros. The buses also have Wi-Fi and outlets to charge your electronics. Using Megabus is one of my top travel tips for Europe.
Europe is one of the best areas in the world to travel around – its hard to find the descriptive words to encompass its beauty. And I get asked almost weekly about how expensive it is to visit. It is possible to travel Europe at little cost if you follow these budget travel hacks, which will save you a lot of money over time. Find out more about backpacking Europe here.
Great tips! Europe is not the cheapest continent but definately one of the most beautiful of all 🙂
