The capital of Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur, or KL for short, is home to the Petronas Twin Towers. The Towers are a set of 88-story, identical, Islam-inspired, buildings in the heart of KL.
This 20-year-old towers are a highlight of visiting KL and one of the main meeting areas. There is a shopping center at the bottom and an amazing sky bridge 170 meters up and two stories tall; that gives way to a beautiful view of the rest of Kuala Lumpur.
Whether you’re a budgeting backpacker, or looking for an extravagant extended holiday, Malaysia has it all. The country has everything from cheap hostels to amazing cabins to beachside resorts.

EATING IN MALAYSIA
Nasi Lemak is one of the well know traditional Malaysian dishes. Rice steamed with coconut milk, and pandan leaves make up this nationally traditional dish. It’s also said that the street food in Malaysia is some of the best food you can get for a small price.
There is also fantastic Indian and Chinese food in the major cities like KL. Get ready to pack on a few pounds. Don’t worry it is worth it!
Mt. Kinabalu, with an elevation of 13,435 feet, is the tallest mountain in Malaysia. If you’re like me and head to the nearest hike, Kinabalu is a must-see, must-climb. If you don’t consider yourself a hiker then still be sure to visit the Mt. Kinabalu National Park that is filled with a plethora of Malaysia’s natural beauty.
DRINK (OR LACK OF DRINKS)
The main religion of Malaysia is Islam so drinking alcohol is socially frowned upon in Malaysia, although it still happens. In an effort to reduce drinking further, they do offer are unusually expensive. Try not to waste too much of your budget on getting a buzz.
Trishaws are elaborately decorated bikes that give rides around the cities of Malaysia. At least one trishaw ride is highly recommended. It is easy to get between cities by bus. Traveling in Malaysia is cheap as well.
While Islam is the national religion of Malaysia, Christianity and Buddhism are also very prevalent throughout.
It’s nearly impossible to pass through a major city without seeing some of the many religious temples that litter the streets, so seeing some as you pass through will be worth your time.
